Apple iPhone fans were finally rewarded today with an announcement of a Verizon iPhone hitting the market early next month. This fulfills many predictions made by media outlets and Internet sites speculating about how soon the iPhone would make it to the Verizon network.

For many, the Verizon iPhone is a no brainer. They’ll switch to the device on their carrier of choice which is Verizon Wireless.

For others, a new question comes into play which is what device to choose and which is better when putting the Verizon iPhone vs. an Android device. Although Apple has done a stellar job at marketing the iPhone, the Droid should be given at least a second thought as a possible device to carry.

In terms of major features, the iPhone, in it’s fourth iteration, is a solid device with one of the best user interfaces a smartphone user could ask for. The experience is enhanced through applications made available through Apple’s iTunes store. One feature of the iPhone on Verizon’s network will be the ability to use the device as a mobile hot spot for up to five devices that are nearby the phone.

Android based devices using Google’s operating system tend to appeal more to the technical crowd with an open platform that encourages developers to build their own applications. The devices also have had a number of features in advance of the iPhone such as the mobile hot spot capability. More choices of device hardware are available with Android devices as well.

The Verizon iPhone will be available for pre-order starting February 3 for Verizon Wireless customers and February 10 for the general public.
