The movie “Social Network” rolled in the awards today. The National Board of Review gave the movie the Best Film of the Year. David Fincher, the film’s maker, was named best director of 2010 and Jesse Eisenberg, who plays Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, was named best actor.

“Social Network” is a movie that shows how the huge social media network, Facebook, came to be. It tracks the progress from an idea in a college dorm room to it’s first one million users.

Although “Social Network” scooped up a lot of awards, they didn’t stop there. “Toy Story 3” came back and won Best Animated Feature. Lesley Manville won best actress in “Another Year,” which is the one year life of a married couple.

National Board of Review or NBR has been around for more than 100 years. It’s a non profit organization that supports movies not only as entertainment, but as art. The members of the board are experts from a variety of industries. Every year they are the first group to pick best film from from all the  major Hollywood studios.

Although this is  a closely watched list of awards, they are not always the same awards as those chosen for the Oscars.
