Ryan Sutter from the Bachelorette ran in this years New York City marathon. He did the run for charity and completed it with an impressive time of 3:20:39.

Ethan Zohn, the winner of 2002 Survivor’s Africa ran in the marathon as well. Zohn had to sit out last years race to receive treatment for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The treatment was called “stem cell transplant” and Zohn had to spend 30 days in the hospital, locked in isolation. He made it through by thinking about hitting the pavement once he was done.

Both reality TV stars were racing each other and racing for a charity.

Those weren’t the only “celebrities” or survivors running the race. Chilean miner Edison Pena also ran. This is a man that spent 69 days underground, running, in the dark, about 6 miles a day, wearing steal toed boots. It’s no surprise he was nicknamed “The Runner.”

Pena was invited to watch the NYC Marathon, but he instead asked to run in it. When he crossed the finish line the crowd came alive with shouts and cheers.

He completed the race with ice on hisĀ  knee. He ran with moments of walking and hobbling along, but more than anything he just wanted to finish the race, and that he did. He also had a goal to finish in under 6 hours and he accomplished that too with a time of 5:40:51.
