Hurricane Paula Disrupts Holidays In The Caribbean

Hurricane Paula threatens areas in it's wake with potentially life threatening and devastating rainfall

Cuba braces itself for Hurricane Paula. The forecast shows that even though there are winds of up to 80mph, the storm may be weakening. This has not quelled concern by Cuban officials who are worried about the amount of rain that could possibly be dumped on the area.

Nearly a dozen cruise ships have been forced to alternate itineraries. Carnival has 8 ships that are carrying more than 20,000 passengers.  All have been relocated out of the way of the storm.

Another Carnival ship was scheduled to visit Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel, but will instead visit Nassau, Bahamas.

Holland American and Celebrity Cruises will also be altering their itineraries because of the storm. Holland America will be sending it’s cruise ship to their own private island in the Bahamas.

As the hurricane pushes towards Cancun, you can see nothing but clear blue skies. With the storm looming off in the distance, red flags warned all swimmers to stay out of the water and off of the beaches.

The storm is expected to dump from 3 to 6 inches of rain when it hits. Even though this does not seem like a lot, it will cause life threatening flash flooding and even some mudslides in the area.
