French Warn of Impending Terror Attack in Britain

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square, Possible Terror Target?

The French government, saying that it is ‘very likely’ that a terrorist attack will occur in the U.K., have released their most ominous terror alert in years.

The dramatic declaration by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry warns that visitors to Britain must  exercise ‘extreme vigilance’, particularly in famous tourist locations such as Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and on the London public transportation system.

The U.S. and Great Britain have already issued warning to be watchful when traveling throughout Europe, the French alert is undoubtedly the most extreme thus far.

It brings to mind when French secret agents frequently monitored Islamic radicals, during the 1990s, in the city the French referred to as ‘Londonistan’.

The statement was released after the a terrorist suspect killed in Pakistan in September was positively identified as a British citizen charged with heading an Al Qaeda cell in the United Kingdom.

Most terror analysts in France believe that the 7/7 suicide bombings of London underground trains and buses could have been averted had British authorities demonstrated more caution before the attacks.

Lately, the French have applied extreme pressure on Islamic extremists. Recent raids in Bordeaux, Avignon, and Marseilles have to twelve arrests.

Those arrested were in possession of enough weapons, including Kalashnikov assault weapons, and ammunition to mount a Mumbai-type assault virtually any place in Europe, with five specific European airports identified as likely targets.

The men were identified and arrested after the discovery of their telephone numbers stored on the cell phone of a terrorist suspect detected in Italy over the weekend.

Security experts in France, Germany Britain warned that Al Qaeda terrorists were preparing for a  Mumbai-style assault somewhere in Europe.

The alert was initiated following the interrogation of Ahmad Sidiqi, an Afghan believed to have been an associate of Mohammed Atta, suspected mastermind of the 9/11 attacks in the United States.
