Don’t Skip Breakfast, Wait! Do Skip, Wait, I Don’t Know

breakfast weight loss

Skipping breakfast may not be so bad after all when attempting to lose weight or diet according to new research

What is the saying, something like “Eat like a King for breakfast, a Prince for lunch and a Pauper for dinner.” Then we see meal plans for weight loss and they include small meals throughout the day. No matter where you look, you will find a different program.

Although many dieters think that if they eat a bigger meal for breakfast, it can help them shed the pounds, new research now says that what you eat for breakfast, whether big or small, doesn’t change your eating at other meals.

German researchers conducted a study of 280 obese adults and 100 average weight people. The participants were asked, and very well instructed on the importance, to keep track of everything that they ate over a 2 week period.

What they found is that no matter what size of breakfast the participants ate, it didn’t effect the rest of the meals. So those that were eating larger breakfasts were simply just adding to the day’s calories.

Dr. Volker Schusdziarra, a professor of internal medicine at the Technical University of Munich has an interesting thought on this. He says, “Whenever someone comes to me for dietary advice and says, ‘I never eat breakfast,’ I say, ‘Keep doing what you’re doing.’ Eating breakfast is just added calories. You’ll never compensate for them at subsequent meals.”

The results are not to eat a heavy or big breakfast if you are dieter. Monitor your meals throughout the day. To read more, the study is published in the January edition of the Nutrition Journal.
