On Monday Charlie Sheen filed for divorce from wife, Brooke Mueller. He cited “irreconcilable differences” as his reason for divorcing Mueller.  his is not a surprise since the couple has lived separately since December 25, 2009.

On December 25, 2009, Sheen was arrested on domestic violence charges. Mueller claimed that Sheen held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her, when they were in their Aspen, Colorado home.

Even with that history in their marriage, Mueller claims she didn’t see it coming. She had no idea he was going to file for divorce and now she feels betrayed.

Back in May the couple signed a property agreement and agreed to wait another year before filing for divorce. The reason behind that was Mueller didn’t want to make trouble for Sheen, as he was on trial for the alleged attack against Mueller.

In August Sheen pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor assault. In exchange he chose probation and rehab. He also believes the money he made after December 25th is his, and is fighting for it. That includes 10 months of pay from the TV show “Two and a Half Men,” from which he makes about $2 million an episode.

Sheen is also asking for joint custody of the twins, Max and Bob.

All this comes on the tail of the New York City’s Plaza Hotel incident where Sheen was on an alcohol fueled rampage and blew up at porn star Christina Walsh, who was with Sheen at the time.  She is planning on suing him, claiming she feared for her life.

The night of the incident, Sheen was at the hotel with his second wife, Denise Richards. She was in a separate room with their two children. Richards did accompany Sheen to the hospital, but she is not coming forth with any details.

Sheen’s publicist says that he was not drunk, but was having an allergic reaction to some medication.
