Most people have heard of Angry Birds. You have heard about people playing the game, you have heard comedians tell jokes about the game and parents are making their kids’ birthday themes about Angry Birds. It’s everywhere.

Well it’s not going to stop with just the a couple of gamea. There is a new version being released in March. The game’s creator, Rovio, announced on Friday that the new game, Angry Birds Rio, was coming out and that it would also be based on a movie that is being released. The movie will open on April 15.

Fox is hoping to take the Angry Birds pop culture and making it into something bigger. It was being referred to as the new Pac Man, but the games makers didn’t think that was enough. Pac Man is one game, Super Mario is a better benchmark for what they are shooting for.

The film will have the voices of Jamie Foxx, Anne Hathaway, and George Lopez. It will be about a bird that is captured in it’s home land and flown by helicopter to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A white macaw is collecting rare species of birds and is offering $100,000 for the birds. The birds are not going down without a fight and the battle between the macaw and the other birds begins.

Peter Levinsohn, president of new media and digital distribution for 20th Century Fox, hopes to create  a new level of engagement with Angry Birds.
